Counseling Approach
Counseling is a shared effort between you and your therapist. I offer a compassionate and supportive space where you can explore and understand yourself, process your experiences without judgment, and work toward a more fulfilling and balanced life—achieving personal goals and positive outcomes from your own perspective.
Our brains rely on established routines, leading us to default to negative, unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. With the right support, we can shift these patterns, replacing anxiety and doubt with calm and informed decision-making. Through reflection and evidence-based strategies, we build confidence, resilience, and self-awareness—empowering us to navigate challenges with curiosity and create meaningful, lasting change in our lives.
I work with teens 18 years and older, college students, adults, and older adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, stress management regulation, grief, chronic illness coping, relationship distress, perfectionism, and healthy lifestyle modifications. I offer a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered psychology, and solution-focused therapy to help clients make confident and positive changes in their lives.
I also work with couples dealing with stressors like poor communication, trust issues, financial conflicts, emotional distance, and conflicts over parenting. Using cognitive behavioral and emotion-focused therapy, I help couples improve the relationship's health and satisfaction by addressing emotions, attachment injuries, and unmet needs.

About Lisa
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina. I take an integrative approach to counseling, combining ideas and techniques from different therapeutic schools of thought depending on each person's individual needs, values, and goals. I collaborate with you to focus on your strengths and abilities to create positive and meaningful change in your life and relationships. I hold a certification in Nutrition & Mental Health from MGH, with a focus on the mind-body connection, the impact of nutrition on mood and behavior, and integrative approaches to support holistic mental wellness.
In addition to being a therapist, I have over 30 years of varied nursing experience, working with and caring for diverse populations. This has deepened my interest and enthusiasm for helping people and shaped my counseling practice through a holistic view of mental wellness. My work offers an accepting and transformative path to personal growth and self-discovery by helping you build self-trust and recognize your inner capabilities. As an Associate Counselor, my practice is supervised by Amanda G. Fink, LMHC, LCMHC-QS, CMC.
